GOM³ Updates - January 2026

AskSmart Development

AskSmart, the AI-powered assistant to help compile and analyze GOMsmart data, is continually refined and enhanced. Since its introduction at the beginning of the month, we have taken in feedback and are dilligently modifying and enhancing AskSmart. To update everyone on the progress, a dark red button has been added at the top of the AskSmart panel that presents updates each week, as shown here.

Updates to AskSmart include:

• - Added the ability to query by distance to create tables and maps. e.g. What are the fields within 20 miles of block MC300?
• - 3D field view now accessible from AskSmart.
• - Increased well log support to include availability date. e.g. What well logs have been released in the last 3 months?
• - Added ESA's Bid Forecast to AskSmart tables (coming to the map soon).
• - Added more table formatting. Decimal percents are now obvious and millions of dollars displays nicely.

As a reminder, AskSmart accesses all tabular data, mapping data, documentation and hundreds of BOEM/BSSE documents to go beyond previous reports and maps in GOMsmart. Creating maps, viewing 3D subsurface views (with 3D seismic), extracting tabular information and getting questions answered has never been easier. Some examples can be viewed here.

AskSmart facilitates the continued goal of making our platform more efficient, more flexible, and ultimately more helpful. As with all of GOMsmart and GOM³, your feedback guides enhancements.
