GOM3 – the most complete GOM data available

GOM3 is the most comprehensive source of information available, as well as the most frequently updated. The BOEM website is checked every hour to locate new data. Updates are provided as soon as the data is processed through the What’s New service in the GIS portion of GOM3 and in the web-based GOMsmart. The What’s New service also connects to NOAA’s web services to display the latest information on storm tracks, wind speeds and surface currents.
Geology
Pore Pressure – Two series of pore pressure maps utilizing interpolatations from mud weight data and sand initial pressure gradient data. The first set is in thousand foot intervals below the mudline (sea floor) while the other is along interpolated, important paleo horizons (as defined by ESA, Bill Galloway from UT and Art Waterman of Paleo Data, Inc.).

Plays – Outlines of the Play and Hydrocarbon limits of assessed plays (e.g., Lower Pliocene Progradational 1).

Series – Outlines of series (e.g., Lower Pliocene).

Seismic seafloor anomalies and basic salt, basin and fault maps.

Hydrocarbon Accumulations
Fields – Centerpoints and field outlines, estimated on basis of productive wells and neighboring dry holes. New fields are streamed into the maps via the What’s New service.

Pools – Centerpoints and outlines of the union of all of a field’s sands stratigraphically within the bounds of a play (e.g., MC807 Lower Pliocene Fan 2).

Sands – Centerpoints, 2-D outlines and 3-D models of all productive sands in a field as defined in the most recent BOEM Atlas. 2-D sand maps and 3-D models are estimated based on the location and gas-oil ratio of all productive wells in a sand.

Discoveries & Prospects – Mapped by the block (and block centerpoint). All data are researched by ESA in print and online publications with sources included. New discoveries and prospects are streamed into the maps via the What’s New service.

Tabular Data –  Includes field reserve history and maximum efficiency rates of reservoirs.

Wells
Well Locations – Mapped at bottom-hole and surface locations. Actively drilling and Idle Iron wells are predefined subsets. New wells are streamed into the maps via the What’s New service.

Directional Surveys – Well surveys are mapped in 2-D and 3-D and the raw directional survey points are available in azimuth/offset as well as lat/long formats.

Completions – Completion interval top is used for 2-D mapping and the full completion interval is represented in 3-D models of each field.

Planned Wells – Locations of submitted exploration and development plans for wells. New planned wells are streamed into the maps via the What’s New service each day.

APD – Applications for Permits to Drill locations are mapped. New APDs are streamed into the maps via the What’s New service each day.

Indicated Hydrocarbons – Wells from the Indicated Hydrocarbon, indicating shows and related data, are updated before each lease sale.

Well Activity Report – Weekly drilling reports, parsed to allow access to individual variables, include mud weights, drilling rates and sampling programs.

Well Logs – All well log images are available for instantaneous preview and download. Wells can be segregated by type (dipmeter, resistivity, sonic, etc.) and wells with logs of any type mapped. Those wells with new logs are streamed into the maps via the What’s New service. Digital well logs are part of the Geophysical Add-on.

Well Data/Documents – Mud logs, core documents, geochemical samples, PVT data, wellbore schematics and many other datasets are available for download.

Tabular Data – Well tests, velocity surveys, bottom hole pressure surveys, reserve histories, casing and other variables.

Paleontological Data
Paleo Data is mapped along the boreholes, converting the sample measured depths to true vertical depths using directional surveys. Paleo data can be used to insert tops-surfaces in 3-D models of all fields.

Facilities
Platforms – Locations of each structure are mapped. Idle Iron platforms are mapped as a subset. In 3-D, platform models reflect the type of structure (fixed platform, TLP, SPAR, etc.).

Planned Platforms – Locations of submitted exploration and development plans for platforms. New planned platforms are streamed into the maps via the What’s New service.

Pipelines – All types are mapped. In 3-D, pipelines are mapped conforming to the seafloor.

Rigs – Mapped by the last submission of applications to drill or modify wells. New rig locations are streamed into the maps via the What’s New service.

Leases
Current and Historical leases are mapped and can be easily subset by owner, operator or both. Leases with an updated status are streamed into the maps via the What’s New service each week.

Other lease subsets include leases expected to expire before a certain date/sale and blocks that received bids in the last sale (updated on day of sale), as well as decommissioning liabilities per lease, right-of-way or right-of-use-and-easement.

Units and Aliquots – Field units and aliquots are mapped and associated with attribute data covering definitions (e.g., E1/2SW1/4).

Bids – All bidding data, combined with leases for mapping and as an individual table.

Sale Preparation – Defined by planning areas (Western, Central, Eastern), these datasets are subsets to assist in preparing for lease sales: Blocks that have become available since last sale of that region, leases expected to expire, blocks that have never been leased, all open (unleased) blocks and the official set of blocks available for leasing as defined by BOEM. All blocks with stipulations of any kind are included by stipulation type.

Sale Results – The results of every GOM Lease Sale are available in GOM3 and GOMsmart the afternoon of the sale – faster than from any other source.

Production Data
Monthly Data for all perforation intervals, aggregated to the well, sand, pool, field, lease, block and platform.

Environmental/Safety
Near real-time hurricane data, weather radar maps, satellite imagery, wind observations, tidal predictions, water quality, and surface currents streamed from NOAA's web services.

Historical hurricane tracks, locations of shallow waterflows, chemical dumps, ordnance dumps, obstructions (from NOAA’s AWOIS), reported/ investigated accidents, sediment resource area and the Rig's-To-Reef program.

Culture/Geopolitical
Boundaries for coastlines, planning regions, districts, protraction areas, blocks, Federal/State line, 8(g) line, EEZ line, Area IV deferrals, lightering areas and military warning areas. Blocks are also used in 3-D.

Shipping Channels Fairways and Anchorage.

Bathymetry Mapped raster in 2-D and 3-D as well as contours in both feet and meters, based on highest-resolution NOAA surveys.
